Developed in the laboratories of Prof. Steven Diver at the University of Buffalo, potassium isocyanoacetate irreversibly binds a variety of homogeneous catalysts to aid in product purification. With Pd cross-coupling catalysts (DOI: 10.1002/adsc.201400754) and with Ru olefin metathesis catalysts (DOI: 10.1021/ol0631399), this potent scavenger reduces metals concentration of the finished product to low ppm levels.
